Forum: etree Subject: Removing soon to be Offical Released Tracks Question

One of the bands that I have recorded numerous times are releasing a live album with different tracks from over the years. So the band had hoped that i could remove just the tracks that are being released from those specific shows. I was wondering if me removing the tracks from the server (within the zip files too) would affect that page, e.g. the playlists, xml, etc. I would change the notes and text file to explain the removal of the track. I've looked around/searched the forums for any problems that might arise from doing this but have found few to no answers. Any help/advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
mikey paul

It's not quite as simple as just removing the files for that one track; to get it to disappear from the Flash player and the zip file, you actually need to delete *everything* except for the FLACs and the xml files, and then re-derive minus the track(s) you want deleted. It's not a hugely complicated process, but a bit more complicated than just a quick deletion.

Possibly it might be easier to drop a line to the LMA admin address here (etree AT this domain) just to take the affected whole shows offline, and meanwhile you upload modified versions, with notes that the shows are edited. Also, that way the whole shows can be preserved in storage at IA, against some much later policy change (which has happened with at least one other band).

Keep in mind you'll also have to update md5s or ffp files to reflect the new set of tracks.
